Irwin Yacht & Marine Corporation was founded in 1966 by Ted Irwin (1940-2015) in the St. Petersburg/Clearwater, Florida area, part of the cluster of Florida sailboat builders (with Morgan, Gulfstar, Hunter, and Endeavour) that made the state a center of American sailboat building. Irwin grew into one of the largest US sailboat producers, known for cruising boats and center-cockpit designs, before going out of business in 1992.
