History
Founded in 1977 by marine engineer Art Kadey and naval architect Jim Krogen, Kadey-Krogen built a reputation for full-displacement bluewater passagemaking trawlers with the seakeeping of a North Sea fishing boat and liveaboard comfort. Its first model, the Krogen 42, became its best-seller (206 built). Production was carried out by third-party builder Asia Harbor in Taiwan while the company handled design, sales, and support. After nearly five decades and close to 700 yachts built, Kadey-Krogen filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy liquidation on July 6, 2026.
