History
Pearson Yachts was founded in 1956 by cousins Clinton and Everett Pearson, who began building fiberglass dinghies in a Massachusetts garage. Their Carl Alberg-designed Triton 28, launched at the 1959 New York Boat Show, made the company a production-fiberglass pioneer. Grumman Allied Industries took a controlling interest in 1961. After ownership changes through the 1980s, the original Pearson Yachts went bankrupt in 1991; the rights to the name passed to successors and are now held by Pearson Marine Group.
